Friday 18th November 2011Featured Photographers Website: Richard Seymour, Fine Art Prints
Fans of photography, contemporary design, flash cars and cityscapes from cool and edgy action movies, will love the work of Richard Seymour.
Working in the world of design and advertising ensures that Richard has access to some of the most spectacular and unique locations across the world. This fact lends itself to Richard being able to product some truly stunning photographs, which are now on sale on his new photography website.
In 2010, Richard entered the winning photograph at the Association of Photographers Open Awards, and was a finalist in the 4th Annual Photography Masters Cup for Bikes over Paris, in the advertising category.
Split into categories of Metropolis, Shadow, White, Spaceport, Automotive and Special Collection, Richards work strikes a futuristic, and even dystopian chord at times. His juxtaposition of form, sensitivity to light, and colour and appreciation of symmetry make his images a truly rare pleasure.

Friday 11th November 2011Featured Artist Website: Ray Campbell ArtIt's been a few weeks since we had a Featured Friday, and not for a lack of excellent websites to showcase. This week, we are bringing it back, with the work and website of Ray Campbell.
I met Ray for the first time very recently, although I had seen his beautifully rendered watercolour paintings in a local gallery before. I've chosen Ray for this weeks feature, both because he has a very nice looking website, if I do say so myself, but also a wonderful story to go with it.
Ray will soon be 68 years old, and while this is of little consequence generally, you might be interested to hear that Ray has only been painting, and making art for the past 5 years. Hard to imagine considering the work.
Ray is based in the North East of England, and studied at the Newcastle College of Art when he was just a youngster. Coming away qualified in Display and Exhibition Design, Ray began to work in a local art studio where he was able to indulge in his passion for art. However, it was not long before the studio went out of business and Ray was left looking for work.
After searching for similar positions across the country, and finding opportunities few and far between, Ray was forced to take up work elsewhere, eventually finding himself working in the coal mines of Northumberland. Now with a small family of his own, Ray put any ideas of art far behind him.
Ray didn't touch a pencil or paintbrush again until he was in his early 60's, and by now remarried, with grandchildren. One day, his grandson asked him to draw a car that could then be coloured in. Ray drew the car and, to the amazement of his family around him, it was pretty good. His wife commented "I didn't know you could draw!", to which Ray responded, "You never asked."
Ray's family then bought him paints and other art materials to allow him to indulge in a skill that he had long forgotten he had. Over the past few years he has taken part in some art classes to get back into things, and now spends a great deal of time painting the local landscapes of his native North East.
From drawing a small car for his grandson, Ray is now widely exhibited in the North East, and original works can sell for over £1,000.
Please take the time to look through Ray's website at some of his tremendous water colour scenes. You can also see a news interview with Ray on the
links page of his website. Enjoy.

Friday 15th July 2011Featured Artist Website: Ryan Fawcett, Illustrator and DesignerOur featured site this week showcases the work of Illustrator and Designer,
Ryan Fawcett.
Dirty Mike, Ryan Fawcett
Ryan recently graduated, having specialised in video game concept art and character illustration, which features heavily throughout his website. Ryan's focus tends to be on fantasy designs, and narrative driven concepts that include both environment design and character implementation.
While accomplished in computer driven design packages like Photoshop and InDesign, Ryan also relies on traditional methods of illustration; working with inks and Copic Markers and paints to bring his landscapes and models to life.
Ryan's illustrations and concept work will be a big hit for gamers and appreciators of deisgn and illustration alike. With influences ranging from the sculpture and drawings of Alberto Giacometti, through to the Japanese art of Yoji Shinkawa, there is a strong graphic appeal to Ryan's work, and a good attention to texture and the layering of colour and form.
To enjoy what Ryan has been working on,
visit his website, where you can also contact him if you are interested in any of his work.

Friday 01st July 2011New Featured Artist Website: Dan WrightsonFeatured Friday is again upon us, and each week we see so many wonderful websites and works of art that we seriously struggle to pick just one to showcase.
Dan grew up in Tuscany and went to Art School in Florence, so we're already fairly jealous. He then trained as an architect at Cambridge and Sheffield. His love of the features and intricacies of buildings, and the shape and juxtaposition of man-made forms is clearly evident in his work
Dan produces beautiful drawings and watercolours of Italian landscapes, the French countryside and the metropolis of London to name just a few subjects. The finesse and accuracy with which Dan not only captures the physicality of the landscape, but also the mood of the places that he paints or draws is wonderfully refreshing and enchanting.
Whether it's the view of St Pauls on the South Bank, or Siena from the San Domenico, Dan has a fantastic talent that will bring him waves of supporters.
Please take the time to delve through the full range of works on
Dan's website. With a range of purchasing options, there's bound to be something that you want to take home.

Friday 10th June 2011Featured Photographers Website: Rebecca DykesRebecca Dykes is this Friday's featured photographer, here at Gallereo!
Rebecca is a talented photographer from Cheshire, who is currently studying Fine Art at Newcastle University.
Rebecca enjoys a wide range of subject matter and styles, as she feels her way through the medium of photography. She has developed a talent for composition and lighting, which is particularly evident in the "In the City" gallery on her website.
Clearly influenced by the likes of Gregory Crewdson, whose photographs are composed on the scale of film sets to capture eerie suburban moments in dramatic lighting and subtle hints of narrative, Rebecca has adapted that style to suit the areas around her.

Friday 03rd June 2011New Featured Photographer Website: Sarah FrancisIt's Featured Friday once again, and this week we have a fantastic photographers website to present to you!
Sarah Francis is a photographer interested in the ideas of reality and representation - topics that photographers, theorists and critics alike have struggled with since the invention of the medium of photography.
Sarah captures a duality in her pictures of time and space, and of story and meaning. Each image has it's stage, and an inkling of narrative, that is never really completed.
The images are staged and displayed in their own world, which is recognisable to us, yet unfamiliar at the same time. However, things aren't always quite as they seem as our perception of what is real, and how the representation of objects doesn't always offer an infallible reality.

Friday 27th May 2011New Featured Artist Website: Alastair RechThat's right ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it's featured Friday once again (well, we've only just decided to make it featured Friday, but lets run with it), and this week we have another minimalist treat in store for you.
Alastair Rech is as contemporary artist studying at Newcastle University in the UK. His practice is clean, clear and precise in it's focal point.
Rech's work poses a lot of questions, both about the state of contemporary art, but also about the wider commercial world of design. We pay a lot of money for objects and works that we can view or utilise on a daily basis, but how arbitrary are the pricing structures attached to those, and how often do we fail to question them.
Rech creates objects that are recognisable in form, and even use, but are built in such a way that it becomes difficult to understand why they exist in the first place. They're not polished enough to be considered of practical use, nor shoddy enough to fail in their designated purpose.
As Rech states, "by experiencing doubt, the viewer becomes part of, and completes the work."
I'm sure there will be lots more to come from this thoughtful artist, so keep an eye on this
artists website.

Friday 22nd April 2011New Featured Artist Website: Chris Smith WorkThe talent around here is incredible. Whoever said painting was dead was quite mistaken. As you will be able to see at this
new artist website, created by Chris Smith.
Chris Smith is currently approaching what will be the end of a two year MFA degree at Leeds University in the UK. More than proficient in the art of putting paint to canvas, Chris shows a keen sense of construction in his work, and idea that is echoed in his site introduction.
"On the land adjacent to my studio a large building takes shape. The constant drilling, banging, shouting, the positioning and fixing of heavy materials has found its way into my work. Now I think of painting as a form of construction, which starts in the foundations of the ground and from the surface rises and expands to the boundaries where its form ends."
This new website houses Chris' newer works, showing a range of paintings, drawings and video stills.
You can also find a list of exhibitions, awards and residencies by the artist, which include the Hans Brinker Residency in Amsterdam, and the British School at Rome under the Summerfield Scholarship.

Wednesday 20th April 2011New Featured Artist Website: Darren Shields / Art & DesignDarran Shields is refreshing new photographer that can be found on Gallereo. His new
photography website is smart, clean and modern, and his photography is clever, bright and inspiring.
Under the alias, arctic, Darren specialises in abstractions of photography and literature. These abstractions manifest themselves in light, form and colour and are taken from a range of sources in the world around us. From natures shapes, to man-made forms, there is little that Darren doesn't see with an eye for abstraction.
His website neatly groups his work into cohesive gangs of images that allude to memories or a dream-like state where the world is weird and wonderful, but not fully in focus.
Darren is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where he excelled in photographic practice at College. He's also a multi-award winner on popular art sharing platform deviantART.
We're glad to have Darren onboard, and hope that his website does him proud!
